Production Assistant
You:
Do you want to get experience in industry? Are you interested in Engineering, Physics, Computing or Mathematics? Then why not apply to work in the highest of high-tech companies? If you are interested in combining skills in mechanical engineering, electronics and computers, and you are willing to learn more about all those subjects, then this may well be the job for you.
Us:
We make and sell humanity's only general-purpose self-replicating manufacturing machine: the RepRap 3D printer. At the moment we make two RepRap models: the smaller Huxley and the larger Mendel. But we are expanding both our range, and also the capabilities of the machines that we already sell. One aspect of our business is that we are constantly researching the technology needed for new products.
We are a small company with factories at locations near Bristol. If you join us you would be working either in Thornbury or in Foxham.
Your job:
Your main tasks would be packing RepRap kits, running RepRap machines, repairing the machines, building new ones, and doing some web and Java or C++ programming. The working week is 37.5 hours flexitime, with core hours from 10.00 am to 16.00 pm on weekdays. The salary is £16,000+ per year depending on qualifications and experience. You get 21 days holiday, plus bank holidays.
We will train you in all aspects of the technology that we use.
How to apply:
Send us your CV. And, if you can, also send us a copy of one of your reports for a scientific, engineering, computing or mathematical project that you have done before. Also, if you have a technical hobby, then send us links to your blog, videos, Facebook page or other online resource that you have created describing what you have done for that hobby.
Also let us know your e-mail address, your phone number, your geographical address, plus the names, e-mail addresses, phone numbers, and geographical addresses of two referees to whom we can write to check up on how clever, honest and hard-working you are.
Organise all that in a single folder called your-name, turn that into a .ZIP file less than 5MB big and e-mail it to us.

Please don't post us pieces of paper...
We will acknowledge every application. We will also tell you if your application has been unsuccessful. We don't give feedback on unsuccessful applications. If we like your CV, we will invite you to an interview and practical test. We will pay your travel expenses for this.
There is no hard deadline for applications. But as soon as the post is filled, we will take this page down. So an early application is advised.
